The fastest time to complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming (male) is 27 days, and was achieved by Joel Matos Ortíz (Puerto Rico) in Wissant, France, on 12 August 2021.


Joel Matos completed a 32.3 km (20.07 miles) crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 11 hours 56 minutes on 16 July 2021. He completed the 45.9 km (28.52 miles) 20 Bridges circumnavigation swim around Manhattan Island in New York in 8 hours 13 minutes on 25 July 2021, and completed the 33.5 km (20.82 miles) crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 13 hours 11 minutes on 12 August 2021. The swims were also ratified by the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA). This series of swims allowed Matos to raise awareness for athletes with intellectual disabilities and support the Special Olympics organization in Puerto Rico.
