The tallest sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum) measures 12.5 m (41 ft 0.12 in) and grows in the garden of Hoovayya Gowda (India) in Madikeri, Karnataka, India, as of 21 June 2014.


Hoovayya is an agriculturist and has been growing sugar cane plants for the last 20 years. He also has two other sugar cane plants that are almost as tall as his record setting one.
