The largest cherry stone spitting competition involved 2,944 participants, achieved by the Executive Committee of Sagae Shiki Festival (Japan), in Sagae, Yamagata, Japan, on 12 June 2016.
The cherries used in the competition were Sato Nishiki grown in Yamagata Prefecture. The winner of the competition spat the cherry stone 13.48 m away from the starting line.
