The Longest journey by personal watercraft (PWC) - unsupported is 7,404 km (4600.62 mi) and was achieved by Marinus Du Plessis (South Africa) between Rognan, Norway and Barbate, Spain, from 7 July to 16 August 2018.

In 2006, Marinus and partner Adriaan Marais had broken the record for the longest journey by personal watercraft (PWC).

This time, Marinus' attempt was not only a record-breaking journey, but was also used as a fundraiser for the organisation Gift of Givers, which is one of Africa's largest non-governmental disaster response charities.

Throughout his journey, Marinus encountered several storms and often had to travel farther out to sea with no land in sight. When the ocean allowed it, he tried to travel for 10 hours a day, even sometimes making it up to 16 hours before going to shore for the night. Since the journey was during the touristic season, Marinus sometimes had to sleep on the walkways of the marinas, public toilets and park benches.
