Fastest crossing of the English Channel swimming underwater

Simon Paterson (UK) travelled underwater from France to England with an air hose attached to his pilot boat in 14 hr 50 min on 28 July 1962. The first underwater cross-Channel swim was achieved by Fred Baldasare (b. 1924) (USA), who completed a 67.5 km (42 mile) distance from France to England with Scuba equipment in 18 hr 1 min from 10 - 11 July 1962.
