The longest distance ice swim within polar regions by a female swimmer is 3.1 km (1.93 mi) completed by Arleen Gonzalez Perez (Mexico) in Ekmanfjorden, Svalbard, Norway, on 22 July 2026, as ratified by the International Ice Swimming Association.

This bettered the previous record of 2.5 km (1.55 mi) completed by "Ice Mermaid" Bárbara Hernández Huerta (Chile) in Chile Bay, aka Discovery Bay (latitude 62.29° S), off Greenwich Island, South Shetland Islands, on 5 February 2023.

This also represents the most northerly ice swim (covering a distance of at least 1 km) by a female swimmer having taken place at a latitude of 78.67°N, jointly set with fellow extreme swimmer Natascha Venter (South Africa) on the same date, as confirmed by the International Ice Swimming Association.
