On 4 January 2025, Colombian vocalist Shakira (b. Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll) scored her 24th No.1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart with “Soltera”.
Compatriot Karol G replaced Shakira at No.1 the following week with “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”, her 18th chart-topper. Both women are chasing J Balvin’s overall record of 36 No.1s (as of the chart dated 1 February 2025).
Shakira’s total includes 12 chart-toppers on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart (inaugurated on 6 September 1986) since it began incorporating Nielsen BDS data on 12 November 1994. On 20 October 2012, Hot Latin Songs’ methodology was incorporated into the newly branded Latin Airplay chart, for predominantly Spanish-language tracks, which includes streaming data and digital download sales alongside existing radio airplay data from Nielsen BDS.
Shakira has achieved 15 No.1s on Latin Airplay (LA) since 28 February 2015, four of which (“Mi Verdad”, “Chantaje”, “BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 53” and “TQG”) have also topped Hot Latin Songs (HLS) and are not counted twice among her total of 24 different No.1s across the two charts.
