At 8.30 p.m. local time on 28 December 2021, 15 competitors (along with 17 helpers) took part in the most southerly game of musical chairs at a latitude of 89.999848°S near the South Pole in Antarctica. The victor, after about 30 minutes, was Joshua Leyba of the USA.
Of the 15 competitors, five nationalities were represented: USA, Germany, Ukraine, Canada and Japan. People from three other countries - New Zealand, Colombia and the UK - were among the facilitators.
