Singer Marc Anthony (USA, b. Marco Antonio Muñiz) won 24 Premio Lo Nuestro awards between 1994 (Tropical New Artist of the Year) and 2014 (the 26th edition of the show), when he collected five awards. These included the prestigious Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia (Excellence/Lifetime Achievement award) that had previously been won by the likes of Celia Cruz, Juan Gabriel, Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias, Luis Miguel and Alejandro Sanz.
Anthony’s other wins in the show’s Tropical categories include Best Male Artist/Male Artist of the Year (1996, 2001, 2003-05, 2007), Album of the Year (1997 – Todo a Su Tiempo; 2005 – Valió la Pena; 2014 – 3.0) and Song of the Year (1998 – “Y Hubo Alguien”; 2004 – “Barco a la Deriva”; 2005 – Ahora Quién; 2014 – “Vivir Mi Vida”). Anthony has received 34 nominations since 1994. Between 1994 and 2005, he won all but three of the 19 awards he was shortlisted for.
Anthony, arguably known as much for his high-profile relationship with Jennifer Lopez (married 2014-14) as his music, is scheduled to perform “De Vuelta Pa’ La Vuelta” (a duet with Daddy Yankee) at the 33rd Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, which will be staged at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, on 18 February 2021. As of 6 February 2021, “De Vuelta Pa' La Vuelta” had spent six consecutive weeks at No.1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart.
He holds the record for the most Tropical Airplay No.1s (33 between 1995 and 2021) and was ranked No.1 on the decade-end chart for the 2000s with his 13-week chart-topper “Qué Precio Tiene el Cielo” (2006).
