The most wins of the Rugby World Cup is 4, achieved by South Africa in 1995, 2007, 2019 and 2023.

The Springboks claimed a record fourth World Cup title on 28 October 2023, defeating three-time winners New Zealand 12–11 in the final at the Stade de France in Paris. It was the first time that they had conceded a try in the final. South Africa’s record in the competition is all the more notable for the fact that they have only entered eight of the ten tournaments held since 1987.
