Founded in 1988, Mount Qomolangma National Nature Preserve (QNNP) extends to the summit of Mount Everest (8,848 metres; 29,029 feet). It is located within China's borders (27.8–29.31ºN, 84.46–88.38ºE). It encompasses approximately 33,810 square kilometres (13,054 square miles) of the central Himalayan range in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China.
“Qomolangma” is the Tibetan name for Mount Everest.
