The open seas and mind-bending dungeons of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Nintendo, 2013) tend to take most people days, not hours, to negotiate on their way to thwarting Ganondorf. Not so Sweden's "Linkus7", who took just 1 hour 3 minutes 18 seconds to speed through the adventure faster than Link in a pair of Pegasus boots – as verified by Speedrun.com. His fastest attempt to take this tightly fought record was achieved on 9 March 2018, but "gymnast86" (USA) was on his heels with a time of 1 hour 3 minutes 30 seconds. Wind Waker HD speed-run times have been toppling owing to gymnast86's discovery of a new "barrier skip" technique known as the “morth hover” that reliably allows speed-runners to face Ganon far earlier than should be possible, shaving hours off a play-through.
