Debuting in Japanese arcade halls in 1996, Taito's train-simulation game Densha de Go! (Go by Train!) had been running along virtual tracks for approximately 21 years by the time a new, four-screen arcade cabinet was introduced in November 2017 (from Square Enix, who relaunched the series in 2010 after acquiring Taito). It was unveiled in summer 2016 to mark the game's 20th anniversary. The prolific series had rolled out 18 individual train sims, all released exclusively in Japan. Games are based on actual Japanese train routes and are celebrated for their meticulous attention to detail.
