The most marathons run in one year by a married couple is 144, achieved by Seo Gwang-su and Shin Young-ok (both South Korea) in Busan, South Korea, from 4 April 2015 to 3 April 2016.

The couple have been married since 1979 and attempted the record due to their love of running marathons together. They completed many of the marathons throughout the year running side by side.
