Need for Speed: World (previously known as Need for Speed: World Online) released in 2010 and is a free2play online racer that many see as the successor to Motor City Online, a game originally conceived as part of the Need for Speed series. However, as of April 2015, it was due to go offline in July 2015 as publisher EA declared that "the game no longer lives up to the high standard set by the Need for Speed franchise".
