The largest Marinera dance in multiple venues is 555 pairs and was achieved in an event organised by Pilsen Trujillo (Peru) in the cities of Trujillo, Chepén, Huamachuco, Paiján and Virú, Peru, on 8 February 2014
All participants had learned the steps in the weeks before the event, on the day of the record national Marinera champions led the public in the five cities including “Champion of Championes” Gino Morales in Trujillo. There were also model dancers throughout the crowd on podiums so those at the back could follow the steps. The Marinera dance is popular throughout Peru and particularly in the North and La Libertad region where all five cities were situated. The cities are in distinct geographical areas, Huamachuco is located 3200 metres above sea level while Trujillo is on the Pacific coast.
