The youngest person to achieve a first dan level in kendama is Nobutaka Tazaki (Japan), who was aged 4 years and 30 days when he passed his test in Myozai, Tokushima, Japan, on 25 May 2019.


The exam was officiated by the Japan Kendama Association, and Nobutaka Tazaki was required to perform such tricks as Sekai Isshu (Around the World) and Todai (Lighthouse) for a certain number of times. Prior to Nobutaka Tazaki, the youngest person was a boy from Shizuoka, who was granted the first dan level at 4 years and 285 days of age.
