Most popular character in the Street Fighter videogame series

The most popular character in the Street Fighter (Capcom, 1987–present) series is lead character Ryu, who first appeared in the original arcade game of 1987. In a poll conducted by developer and publisher Capcom in February 2013, Ryu received 18,740 votes and a 5.9% share of the poll from a roster of more than 60 characters.
