Professor Layton and the Curious Village (Level-5, 2007) was inspired by Akira Tago's series of Head Gymnastics Japanese puzzle books, which Level-5 president Akihiro Hino loved to read as a child. From that first game onwards, Tago has worked with Hino and his team to oversee the design of the series' 941 in-game riddles and its hundreds of extra, downloadable brainteasers (as of 18 June 2013).
