The USA beat Nigeria 156-73 in a group match at London's North Greenwich Arena, UK, on 2 August 2012 - the most points scored by a team in a basketball match at the Olympic Games. A host of Olympic and US records were set in this match. Olympic records: most 3-point field goals made by a team (29); most 3-pointers made by an individual: 10, by Carmelo Anthony (USA); most points scored in the first half (78). US records: most field goals (59); highest field-goal percentage (71 per cent); highest margin of victory: 83 points, beating the "Dream Team"'s 79-point win over Cuba, 136-57, at Barcelona 1992; most points scored in a match by an individual: 37, by Carmelo Anthony. They broke the Olympic record for most points in a match with 4 min 37 sec still to play. The largest margin of victory in an Olympic men's basketball game was 100 points, when South Korea beat Iraq 120-20 and when China beat Iraq 125-25, both in the preliminary round of the London 1948 Olympics. Basketball has been an Olympic sport since 1936.
