Space sickness is similar to motion sickness and is caused by the changes in gravity a human experiences on a spaceflight. The first to suffer was Soviet cosmonaut Gherman Titov, who experienced nausea and vomiting on his Vostok 2 flight on 6 August 1961. Some form of space sickness is felt by around half of all people who fly in space.
